Ansan mayor vows to strengthen textile and dyeing industry content at city museum

"Industrial artifacts are precious assets that show the history of Ansan's growth and industrial development," Ansan Mayor Lee Min-geun said.

Ansan City announced Tuesday that it has completed a revamp of Permanent Exhibition Hall 3 at the Ansan Industrial History Museum, including a reorganization of displays and a rotation of the collection, with the updated hall opening to visitors this week.

The overhaul was undertaken to make better use of the museum's collection and to introduce a wider range of industrial history content to the public. Some displays that had focused on the paper and printing industries have been restructured around the textile and dyeing sector, offering a more three-dimensional look at the diverse stages of Ansan's industrial development.

The revamped exhibition incorporates artifacts from the special exhibition "Journey of Thread" — including textile looms, dye and ink samples, and color books — making them permanently accessible to visitors. Newly displayed items, among them trade magazines and industrial materials related to the textile and dyeing industry, vividly convey the growth of Ansan's textile sector and the look of its industrial past.

In tandem with the content changes, the museum replaced all exhibition panels and nameplates, installed glass enclosures to protect the collection, and redesigned the space to better reflect the museum's identity and character. Additional sculptural installations and visual elements were added to create a more comfortable and immersive experience for visitors.
