The North Gyeongsang Provincial Office of Education announced Tuesday it will provide tailored consulting sessions for teachers responsible for school smoking-prevention programs.
About 40 early-career teachers at elementary, middle and high schools across the province are eligible. To improve accessibility and on-site support, the province has been divided into two regional groups.
The first group held its session Tuesday at the office's Haengbok Support Building. The second group will meet July 3 at the Saemaul Undong (New Village Movement) Theme Park training center in Gumi.
The consulting is designed as a practice-oriented training program centered on sharing best practices verified in actual school settings.
Seven experienced educators have been appointed as consultants and will lead the sessions in a small-group mentoring format. They include teachers with extensive experience running advanced smoking-prevention programs and award winners from smoking-prevention achievement competitions.
Following this first round of consulting, the office plans to hold a second round of regional sessions in October during the second semester to review program progress and share successful school-level cases, providing continued support for teachers in the field.
"We will actively support teachers who are struggling with this responsibility for the first time, so they can gain confidence through the experience and wisdom of their senior teachers and deliver effective smoking-prevention education in their schools," North Gyeongsang Superintendent of Education Im Jong-sik said.
