BMW Group Korea supports Capital Defense Command military police motorcycle training

BMW Group Korea announced Monday that it provided its BMW Driving Center on Yeongjongdo Island in Incheon, along with training motorcycles, free of charge for a motorcycle training session held Sunday by the mobile company of the special mission battalion of the Capital Defense Command's military police unit.

The collaboration was carried out to fulfill the company's corporate social responsibility and realize public interest values by offering the driving center's specialized facilities as a training venue to enhance the national defense capabilities of a government institution.

A total of 35 elite personnel from the mobile company — including officers, non-commissioned officers, enlisted soldiers and civilian staff — took part in the motorcycle training. The battalion commander and relevant staff officers also visited in person to observe the session.

The training focused on responding to various unexpected situations that can arise on the road and maximizing the military's tactical mobility. The BMW Driving Center's multiple course and main track were used as training facilities. Exercises covered obstacle avoidance and emergency braking, slope driving, company-formation riding and formation maneuvering — all aimed at improving the military police's motorcycle riding skills and organizational mobility.

BMW Group Korea fully opened its driving courses within the center and actively cooperated to create a smooth training environment. It also provided a total of 10 training motorcycles: the BMW F 900 GS, the BMW R 1300 RT and the BMW R 1300 GS Adventure.

BMW Group Korea has maintained ongoing cooperation with public institutions, with a focus on fire safety. After conducting driving education for Incheon-area fire department paramedics at the BMW Driving Center in 2024, the company followed up the next year with electric vehicle fire safety training for Incheon-area firefighters. This past May, it expanded the program to include Seoul-area firefighters, supporting efforts to strengthen their capacity to respond to electric vehicle safety incidents on scene.

The company has also carried out a range of other support activities, including donating 1,150 vehicle-mounted refrigerator-warmer units — suitable for storing medicine and beverages during nationwide firefighting and emergency dispatch operations — to the National Fire Agency, and extending indefinitely the free consumables replacement period for a BMW X5 donated to the Seoul Metropolitan Government's fire and disaster headquarters.

Meanwhile, BMW Group Korea continues to invest consistently in South Korea, including building the world's largest regional distribution center for auto parts, opening a Group R&D Center Korea, expanding logistics and research infrastructure, operating the BMW Driving Center to promote car culture, and building public electric vehicle charging infrastructure nationwide.
