Hanon Systems publishes 9th sustainability report, outlines ESG governance overhaul

Hanon Systems, a global automotive thermal energy management solutions company under Hankook & Company Group, said Tuesday it has published its ninth sustainability report. The company has released the report annually since 2018.

The report details Hanon Systems' environmental, social and governance activities and risk management outcomes amid rapid shifts in the automotive industry, including the transition to electrification and the growing adoption of software-defined vehicles.

On the governance front, the company outlined plans to upgrade its management framework to address evolving global ESG regulations and changing stakeholder expectations. Hanon Systems said it will move beyond its current ESG leader-centered structure and transition to an integrated management system anchored by a company-wide ESG Operations Committee in the second half of this year, aimed at strengthening execution across the organization.

"The automotive industry is undergoing a structural paradigm shift, and this demands a new level of response from companies," said Lee Su-il, vice chairman and CEO of Hanon Systems. "We will continue to reinforce a responsible management framework and operational foundation that meets global standards, recognizing sustainability as a core value directly tied to the company's long-term competitiveness."

Meanwhile, Hanon Systems has carried out a range of corporate social responsibility initiatives since its founding through its in-house program 'Hanon Systems Citizen', focusing on education, the environment and local communities.

Its US subsidiary recently sponsored the Frost RoboFalcons, a middle school robotics team in Livonia, Michigan, to support students participating in the FIRST Championship — the world's largest youth robotics competition — where they develop creativity, technical skills and problem-solving abilities.
