Daegu Gansong Art Museum to put 'Portrait of a Beauty' on permanent display from July 7

A dedicated permanent gallery for "Portrait of a Beauty" — the masterpiece by Joseon-era painter Hyewon Sin Yun-bok and one of the defining works of Korean figure painting — will open to the public for the first time after a long wait. The room is named "A Room with a Beautiful Person: the Portrait of a Beauty Gallery."

According to Daegu city, the Daegu Gansong Art Museum will begin displaying Sin Yun-bok's "Portrait of a Beauty" as a permanent exhibition starting July 7.

To ensure the best viewing experience and maintain a comfortable environment, the museum may limit the number of visitors allowed inside the gallery at one time during peak hours.

"Portrait of a Beauty" had previously been shown only for a limited period around the museum's opening, drawing considerable attention from visitors.

The gallery was designed by spatial design studio WGNB, which has won multiple international design awards and was involved in creating the multiplex cultural space Futura Seoul and the Baekje Great Incense Burner Gallery at the Buyeo National Museum.
