Drones and digital twin technology sharpen precision on job sites
Integrated CCTV control center enables real-time monitoring
IPark Hyundai Development is stepping up its smart construction drive through drones and closed-circuit television, advancing a quality and safety management framework built on AI and digital transformation technology. Company executives also conduct regular on-site safety inspections as part of a safety-first management approach.
The company deploys drones and digital twin technology across all construction phases, from the start of work through completion.
Digital twin technology is currently in active use at major sites including Seoulwon IPark and Cityocl Complex 7. At the Iksan Busong IPark site, drones automatically detect whether workers are wearing hard hats and using safety harnesses. The company has also installed a smart materials management system across its sites that tracks in real time every delivery vehicle entering and leaving, strengthening quality control.
"We have raised the efficiency and safety of our construction processes by building a site management framework that leverages AI and digital transformation," a company official said. "We will continue developing technology with specialized firms to find solutions — such as structural inspection technology — that can further improve process efficiency."
IPark Hyundai Development also operates an integrated CCTV control center that provides real-time monitoring of all above-ground and below-ground zones. The system is being installed in stages at major sites including Cheonan IPark City and locations in Chuncheon, Gunsan, Seoul and Gwangju.
The company has deployed an AI-powered multilingual translation system across all its sites, allowing foreign workers to access toolbox meeting briefings, safety training and other information in their native languages via QR codes. It has also established a continuous learning system to strengthen the expertise of safety and health managers, giving all managers access to an online learning platform at any time.
Meanwhile, IPark Hyundai Development posted consolidated sales of 673.9 billion won ($437 million) and operating profit of 80.1 billion won in the first quarter of this year, with its operating profit margin returning to double digits on a quarterly basis for the first time in about five years.
