LG Electronics launches StanbyME 2 Max globally to strengthen lead in portable screens

LG Electronics announced Wednesday it will launch the LG StanbyME 2 Max in overseas markets, beginning with the United States and Canada this month before rolling out to major countries in North America, Europe and Asia — including France, Italy and Taiwan — in August. The company said the expansion is part of its strategy to strengthen global leadership in the portable screen market.

The LG StanbyME 2 Max was first released in South Korea in April. It drew strong attention at a launch livestream on LG Electronics' online brand shop, where an initial batch of 200 units sold out in 45 minutes.

The new model incorporates customer feedback with a larger display and 4K picture quality. It features a 32-inch touch display — roughly 40 percent larger than the 27-inch screen on the previous model — and supports 4K UHD resolution for a sharper, more immersive viewing experience. The device runs on a third-generation Alpha 8 Pro processor, an upgrade from its predecessor, with AI optimizing picture and sound quality for different content.

LG Electronics has also enhanced the portability and convenience that define the StanbyME line. The built-in battery capacity has been increased to 144 Wh, allowing up to four and a half hours of use without a power connection. The display panel detaches with a single button, enabling tablet-style use.

LG Electronics has continued to push form-factor innovation in the portable screen category since introducing the original LG StanbyME in 2021, followed by the LG StanbyME Go in 2023, the LG StanbyME 2 in 2025, and now the LG StanbyME 2 Max this year.
