LG Chem recruits trainees for AI-focused K-New Deal Academy program

LG Chem announced Tuesday that it is recruiting trainees for its "Let's Grow with LG Chem" program, aimed at helping unemployed young people build practical work experience and strengthen their professional skills.

The program is part of the K-New Deal Academy initiative, which large corporations design and operate to provide job-skills training and other programs tailored to their industries, helping young people enter the labor market.

LG Chem structured the curriculum around its own value chain, with in-house instructors sharing expertise and AI application cases verified through real work experience.

Participants will develop an understanding of petrochemicals, advanced materials and biotech, while building skills in AI, AI transformation and data-driven problem solving. The program also covers hands-on digital practice in generative AI, workflow automation and data analysis. Trainees will have the opportunity to earn a certified coaching completion certificate, a digital transformation-based Six Sigma Green Belt and an AX Expert Level 1 qualification.

During the training period, participants can receive a monthly youth training allowance of up to 300,000 won ($195) in Osan and up to 500,000 won in Yeosu. Accommodation or commuter bus services will also be provided. LG Chem plans to give all graduates an LG StanbyME portable screen.

Recruitment will proceed in four rounds of 50 trainees each, for an annual total of 200 participants. The program is open to unemployed youth between the ages of 15 and 34, with veterans eligible to apply up to age 39.

"This program will give young people an intensive opportunity to build industry knowledge, hands-on experience and core competencies, while engaging directly with working professionals to map out their career paths and discover their growth potential," an LG Chem official said.
