Kim Hyun-gi joins sanitation workers near Gangnam Station and Gangnam-daero to begin his ninth-term administration on Tuesday
Gangnam District Mayor Kim Hyun-gi launched the first official schedule of his ninth elected term Tuesday morning, joining sanitation workers for a street cleanup around Gangnam Square and Gangnam-daero near Gangnam Station at 7:30 a.m.
Kim swept the streets alongside the sanitation workers and listened to the difficulties they face on the job. By starting his first day in office in the field, he signaled his intention to hear from frontline workers — those who quietly serve residents in the most demanding conditions — before getting down to the business of running the district.
"It is essential for the district mayor to see things firsthand," Kim said. "Going forward, I will start in the field and find answers in the field." He added that he would "quickly resolve residents' inconveniences and show Gangnam's transformation through action."
