Fifth ESG report published
Report covers ESG performance of Lotte Rental and three subsidiaries
Lotte Rental announced Tuesday that it has published a sustainability report detailing its 2025 ESG (environmental, social and governance) performance.
The report covers three broad areas: environment, including expansion of eco-friendly products and services and reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and energy use; social, covering customer-centered management, a positive workplace culture, safety management for customers and employees, and data protection; and governance, addressing ethical management and compliance, as well as efforts to strengthen shareholder management and shareholder-friendly policies.
As the single company with the largest vehicle fleet in South Korea, Lotte Rental has continued efforts to protect the environment. The share of eco-friendly vehicles among newly purchased vehicles surpassed 50 percent in 2025, up from 31 percent in 2023.
Jeju Auto House has converted all six of its shuttle buses serving Jeju Airport to electric vehicles. Greencar, a car-sharing subsidiary, saved approximately 83,000 tons of water last year through its Secharkling waterless car-wash service, which uses only 500 milliliters of water per wash. Lotte Rental also expanded its greenhouse gas emissions measurement scope ahead of mandatory disclosure requirements, extending coverage beyond Scope 1 (direct emissions) and Scope 2 (indirect emissions) to include Scope 3 (other indirect emissions). The company also established an environmental management system aligned with international standards and obtained ISO 14001 certification.
The company also strengthened its social responsibility efforts. By extending summer vacation days introduced in 2024 and operating a work-from-home program called Happy Work for employees with children, Lotte Rental supported work-life balance — earning recognition as one of the Ministry of Employment and Labor's top job-creation companies for 2025. Lotte Auto Care, the company's vehicle maintenance subsidiary, became the first in the automotive maintenance and quality management services sector to obtain ISO 9001 quality management system certification.
In addition, in line with amendments to the Commercial Act, Lotte Rental removed a clause from its articles of incorporation that had excluded cumulative voting, and separately elected two outside directors to serve as audit committee members, establishing protections for minority shareholder rights. The company also operates a lead independent director system to ensure board independence.
"I am pleased to greet you again through Lotte Rental's fifth sustainability report," said Choi Jin-hwan, president and CEO of Lotte Rental. "We will communicate transparently as we advance toward becoming the undisputed No. 1 player in South Korea's mobility industry, and we will be a Lotte Rental that creates a better life for all stakeholders."
Meanwhile, Lotte Rental recently received an investment-grade rating from global credit rating agency Fitch for the third consecutive year, affirming the company's stable business foundation and asset soundness.
