JTBC's 'Sagikkundeul' to go on monthlong hiatus, return in August

JTBC's variety program "Sagikkundeul," a lecture battle show, is going on a roughly monthlong hiatus as the production undergoes restructuring.

The show's production team announced Wednesday that it plans to resume broadcasting in August after the reorganization.

Earlier, JTBC said "Sagikkundeul" and "Ihon Suryeo Kaemp," a divorce counseling camp show, would both sit out their Wednesday broadcast due to scheduling adjustments for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. "Ihon Suryeo Kaemp" is expected to miss only this week before returning to its regular schedule.

"Sagikkundeul" features some of South Korea's most celebrated public speakers competing in a lecture battle format. It drew strong viewership when it aired as a pilot in September last year and was picked up as a regular series in January on the back of that audience response.

JTBC declared a default on June 12 after failing to repay 20.6 billion won ($13.3 million) in securitized borrowings at maturity.
