The Green Light Festa held Friday at Ujangsan Soccer Field in Seoul's Gangseo-gu drew massive crowds, turning the venue into a summer celebration.
The soccer field was packed with families who brought their children, leaving barely room to move. The main stage hosted a continuous lineup of performances — magic acts, singing and dance — while nearby activity booths offered water gun target shooting and water balloon throwing, designed to be safe even for toddlers.
The undisputed highlight of the festival was the water gun battle. The soccer field transformed instantly into a giant water playground, with children and adults alike soaking each other to beat the summer heat. Children's faces lit up with laughter, and adults found themselves swept back to their own childhoods. District Mayor Jin Kyo-hoon joined in the water gun fun, mingling freely with the children.
The festivities carried on well into the night. A dazzling laser show began at 8:10 p.m., lifting the festival atmosphere to another level.
A "Light Promenade" will also run from that day through July 24, adding a festive touch to summer evening strolls.
Meanwhile, a water play area will operate at Ujangsan Soccer Field from July 31 through Aug. 9, offering another chance to beat the heat.
"We have prepared a variety of summer festivals so that our children can enjoy water activities right in the heart of the city, without having to travel far," Jin said. "We hope you will come with your children, cool off from the summer heat and make wonderful memories together."
