DJ DOC's Lee Ha-neul fires back at trolls, says restaurant has weathered over 1,000 complaints

Lee Ha-neul of DJ DOC has hit back at online trolls and the wave of complaints targeting his gopchang restaurant.

Lee posted a short video titled "You think you won't age like me?" to his YouTube channel on Friday.

In the clip, he took aim at those leaving malicious comments. "If I were spending time writing hate comments, I'd be making money instead," he said. "Don't live your life posting hate comments. You'll never succeed."

He added that he had found success over 30 years in music and was now doing well in business. "Today — Sunday — I made two months of your salary. In a single day," he said.

Lee said his restaurant had received more than 1,000 complaints, yet nothing had come of them. "Has our restaurant been shaken by any of it?" he said.

Lee runs the gopchang restaurant in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, together with fellow DJ DOC member Jung Jae-yong.

The trouble began earlier this year when actor Kim Gyu-ri held a small fan meeting at the restaurant. After it emerged that Lee had sung and danced during the event, the restaurant was reported for violating the Food Sanitation Act, which prohibits general restaurants equipped with sound systems from allowing customers to sing or dance. Rumors subsequently spread online that the restaurant had been ordered to suspend operations, but those reports proved false.

In May, Lee drew another complaint — this time for DJing and live-streaming from the restaurant — which prompted a police visit.
