Seoul's Gangdong-gu district is hosting an online youth forum — "A Conversation with Youth" — to gather the views and on-the-ground voices of young residents as it shapes youth policy for the 9th elected term under District Mayor Lee Su-hee.
The forum will be held online via Zoom on July 14, starting at 8 p.m. It is open to residents of Gangdong-gu between the ages of 19 and 39, as well as young people in that age group who work, study or are otherwise active at workplaces, schools, businesses or organizations located in the district.
Participants will be able to share what they want from the district and speak freely about their thoughts on youth policy. The district plans to use the forum to collect firsthand perspectives on the full range of issues affecting young people's lives — including employment, housing, culture, welfare and community — and draw on that input as foundational material for developing its 9th elected-term youth policy.
Applications are open through Tuesday at the Gangdong-gu district office website, under the Participation & Communication section (Online Applications → Events/Registration). The application period opened June 24. The forum will accommodate up to about 40 participants.
"Youth policy must start from the voices of young people themselves," District Mayor Lee said. "Through this online forum, we will listen to the candid opinions of Gangdong-gu's youth and use them as a guide in charting the direction of our 9th elected-term youth policy."
