Doosan Enerbility takes generator monitoring system overseas

Doosan Enerbility announced Sunday that it has signed an MOU with Createc, a vibration and noise engineering firm, to mark and advance the overseas expansion of its B-EYES generator monitoring system.

Doosan Enerbility has been accelerating its push to expand the monitoring system business, which is designed to improve the operational reliability of generators — the key power plant equipment that converts turbine rotation into electrical energy.

B-EYES is a monitoring system that measures in real time the current, temperature, vibration and wear of brushes — components that transfer current to a generator's rotating shaft — to detect anomalies early and prevent equipment failures. Continuous, unmanned and automated monitoring improves generator reliability and equipment safety compared with conventional manual inspection methods. Doosan Enerbility recently agreed to supply B-EYES for the generator replacement project at units 1 and 2 of the Temelin nuclear power plant in the Czech Republic.

Under the agreement, Doosan Enerbility and Createc plan to formalize their cooperation framework covering B-EYES production, maintenance, after-sales service and technology collaboration. The two companies also intend to build a foundation for long-term supply and service partnerships.

Doosan Enerbility plans to leverage this supply contract to expand the business to a range of domestic and overseas power plants, including nuclear and thermal facilities.

Son Seung-woo, head of Doosan Enerbility's Power Service Business Group, said the agreement "is expected to serve as a turning point for the full-scale commercialization of generator diagnostic technology developed together with a domestic partner company." He added that the company would "demonstrate our technological competitiveness through the Temelin nuclear power plant project and expand our generator diagnostics and service solution business into the global market, including domestic power generation companies."
