The Incheon Port Authority (IPA) has launched a comprehensive safety inspection of aging water and sewage pipelines at Incheon Port, stepping up its management of port infrastructure.
IPA announced Monday that it will begin a project Tuesday to conduct a detailed survey of deteriorating water and sewage lines at the inner port and coastal port areas, with the aim of drawing up a maintenance plan.
The project carries a total budget of 400 million won ($260,000) and is expected to run for about eight months.
The survey will cover 44 km of pipelines in total — 40 km of sewage lines and 4 km of water supply lines.
IPA plans to combine CCTV-based internal inspections with on-site checks to assess the condition of the pipes, evaluate their structural integrity and confirm whether they remain fully functional.
After completing the survey of the inner and coastal ports this year, IPA plans to extend the scope next year to the south and north ports, building a phased management system for water and sewage infrastructure across all of Incheon Port.
