Seoul's Dongdaemun-gu said its second-half "Care SOS Service" for residents in need of care officially launched July 1 under District Mayor Choi Dong-min.
The district selected 20 partner organizations to carry out the second-half care service after reviewing 24 applicants from a public recruitment drive in May.
By category, the 20 organizations break down as follows: 16 providing temporary home care and escort support, one offering short-term residential facility care, two handling meal delivery, and one covering residential convenience services. The district held a signing ceremony with the service providers to strengthen cooperation and conducted practical training to improve service quality and expertise.
A total of 30 organizations — the 20 newly contracted and 10 existing partners — will provide tailored care services to residents without interruption.
The Care SOS Service is an emergency care support project for Seoul residents who need urgent, temporary assistance. It offers 10 tailored care services: five immediate care options — temporary home care, short-term residential facility care, escort support, residential convenience services and meal delivery — and five medium- to long-term care linkage services covering welfare check-ins, health support, care system navigation, case management and emergency assistance. Low-income households and those earning at or below 100 percent of the median income standard receive the service free of charge; other residents may use it at their own expense.
Going forward, the district plans to work alongside service providers to ensure care is available to residents whenever they need it, in line with the welfare vision of the ninth elected-term administration: "Stronger care, more secure lives for residents."
"This agreement is an important starting point for building a tight-knit care network in which the community looks after those the public sector cannot always reach," District Mayor Choi said. "We will continue to work closely with private organizations to ensure residents who need care can receive services in a timely manner."
