The Korea Racing Authority has partnered with the Korea Veterans Health Service to launch a mobile cultural welfare program for national merit recipients.
The two organizations signed a memorandum of understanding Thursday at the KRA's main conference room in Gwacheon, agreeing to build a support and cooperation framework for veterans and their families.
KRA Vice Chairman Lee Byeong-u, Korea Veterans Health Service Business Director Jeon Yeong-ui and senior officials from both organizations attended the signing ceremony.
The "mobile cultural center" program will serve elderly veterans and their family members residing in veterans' nursing homes across four regions — Gwangju, Daegu, Suwon and Gimhae (Busan) — where KRA offices are located. Tailored cultural classes such as singing lessons and flower arranging, designed with participants' age and physical conditions in mind, are planned.
"The peaceful daily lives we enjoy today were made possible by the noble sacrifices and dedication of our veterans and their families," Lee said. "We will draw fully on the KRA's cultural center expertise to do our utmost to help the elderly residents of veterans' nursing homes spend their later years in greater comfort and vitality."
