French luxury house Dior made the wedding dress worn by pop superstar Taylor Swift at her recent nuptials.
Reuters reported Sunday that Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce both wore Dior haute couture at their wedding in New York. No photos from the ceremony have been released.
Industry observers say Dior stands to gain strong brand exposure simply from having quietly crafted the wedding gown of one of the world's most influential pop stars.
Swift has about 273 million Instagram followers, and her fan base is widely regarded as exceptionally loyal — factors analysts say translate into massive brand visibility.
For Dior creative director Jonathan Anderson, the commission marks a symbolic achievement just one year into his tenure.
Anderson, who is from Northern Ireland, led Spanish luxury brand Loewe for 11 years before being appointed Dior's creative director last year.
Dior said the couple's wedding attire was crafted at its atelier at 30 Avenue Montaigne in Paris, with Anderson working closely with both the bride and groom throughout the process.
Before the high-profile wedding, the fashion world had been closely watching to see who would design Swift's gown.
Among the names initially floated as leading candidates were Stella McCartney, one of Swift's preferred designers, and Sarah Burton of Givenchy.
As the luxury market continues to face a prolonged slump, dressing a superstar for her wedding has become a key marketing tool for boosting brand image.
'Wedding of the century' at New York's MSG
The wedding took place Friday at Madison Square Garden in the heart of New York City.
The New York Times, the Associated Press and other US outlets reported on the private ceremony, citing New York City event permits and sources familiar with the event.
They added that players from Kelce's team, the Kansas City Chiefs, were spotted at the airport, while actor Bradley Cooper and model Gigi Hadid were also seen in New York.
MSG also serves as the home arena of the NBA's New York Knicks. It is not a venue typically associated with weddings, but its capacity to accommodate large crowds and its near-windowless structure made it an ideal choice for Swift, who values her privacy.
About 1,000 guests attended the main ceremony.
Swift publicly confirmed her relationship with Kelce in 2023 and announced their engagement last year, with reports of an imminent wedding continuing until recently.
CNN described the wedding as the most culturally significant event since the 2011 marriage of Britain's Prince William and Kate Middleton.
