Lee Im-saeng, who led Hong Myung-bo's appointment, lands job at Cambodian pro club

Lee Im-saeng, the former Korea Football Association technical director who spearheaded the appointment of then-national team head coach Hong Myung-bo, has been named technical director of a Cambodian professional football club.

Cambodian club Nagaworld FC announced Monday on social media that it had appointed Lee as its technical director.

Lee was a central figure in the appointment process, having personally met with Hong in 2024 to offer him the national team head coaching position.

At the time, Lee pushed through Hong's appointment despite having no authority to do so after former national team performance enhancement committee chairman Jeong Hae-seong had resigned, drawing criticism over procedural legitimacy.

Lee's move to Cambodia has drawn remarks about its timing. The South Korean national team failed to advance past the round of 32 at the 2026 North America World Cup, and talk of a parliamentary hearing has begun to surface.

Should Lee be called as a witness at such a hearing, he would in principle be required to appear — but a person residing abroad may submit a written explanation and skip the proceedings.
