Jungnang-gu (district mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) is accelerating the integrated development of the Myeongmok Administrative Complex Town after passing the Seoul Metropolitan Government's second public housing integrated review in June.
The project will redevelop a public facility site near Yongmasan Station on subway Line 7 in the Myeongmok-dong 378-10 area, combining administrative and cultural facilities with new public housing. The development will span four below-ground floors to 47 above-ground floors and is set to include administrative and welfare facilities, 712 public housing units, a youth training center, a public parking lot and retail space.
The district also plans to improve pedestrian access linking the complex to Yongmasan Station and to build community amenities — including a fitness center, a senior center and a guesthouse — alongside ground-floor retail, transforming the area around the station into a new local hub integrating administrative, cultural and residential functions.
The district will hold a ground-breaking ceremony for the demolition of the existing Jungnang Citizens' Hall on the project site, marking the formal start of the integrated development. Completed in 1994, the hall has served as a cultural space for local residents for decades.
The demolition is a prerequisite for the integrated development and will lay the groundwork for the broader project going forward.
The district plans to work closely with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the Seoul Housing & Communities Corp. and other relevant agencies to complete follow-up administrative procedures — including approval of the housing construction plan — with the goal of breaking ground in 2027 and completing the project in 2030.
"The completion of the public housing integrated review marks the point at which the Myeongmok Administrative Complex Town project has entered full-scale implementation," Jungnang-gu District Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi said. "Starting with the demolition of the Jungnang Citizens' Hall, we will transform the area around Yongmasan Station into a new local center where administrative, cultural and residential functions come together, delivering urban change that residents can truly feel."
