Seoul's Eunpyeong-gu is accepting nominations for the 46th Eunpyeong Award through Aug. 28, seeking to recognize residents and organizations that have contributed to community development and civic harmony, district mayor Kim Mi-kyung said.
Now in its 46th year, the Eunpyeong Award is the district's most prestigious honor, established to recognize the contributions of residents and organizations dedicated to local development and to foster civic pride.
The award covers six categories: the Filial Piety Award, Volunteer Service Award, Business Leader Award, Beautiful Donation Award, Culture and Sports Promotion Award and Special Award. Eligible nominees are residents or organizations that have contributed to district development or served as a model in their respective fields. Those who received an award in the same category within the past 10 years are not eligible.
Nominations may be submitted by the head of the nominee's local administrative district office, a district lawmaker representing the area, or the head of a relevant institution or organization. To nominate an individual, a petition signed by at least 10 household heads aged 19 or older who reside in Eunpyeong-gu is required.
Nomination documents may be submitted to the Eunpyeong-gu Office's autonomous administration division or the relevant neighborhood community center. Detailed eligibility requirements and required documents for each category are available on the Eunpyeong-gu Office website under official notices and announcements.
Eunpyeong-gu will select the final recipients through a merit review committee. Winners will be honored at the 31st Eunpyeong Citizens' Day ceremony on Oct. 1, and bronze plaques bearing their names will be displayed in the Hall of Fame on the fifth floor of the district office's main building.
"The Eunpyeong Award is a meaningful honor for residents who have devoted themselves to community development and brought distinction to Eunpyeong-gu," district mayor Kim said. "We ask for your interest and participation so that the unsung heroes quietly brightening our community in every field can be widely nominated."
