Naver Cloud, Mistral AI team up to target manufacturing AI market

Naver Cloud announced Wednesday that it has signed a wide-ranging partnership with French AI company Mistral AI to jointly pursue the manufacturing AI market. The two companies aim to target global manufacturers with sovereign AI solutions optimized for data sovereignty and industrial conditions in European and Asian manufacturing environments — an alternative to the US-centric general-purpose AI offerings that dominate the market.

Both companies are members of the "Nemotron Alliance" formed by Nvidia with major global firms, meaning they already share the same technology ecosystem. Building on that foundation, the two will develop joint business initiatives centered on the manufacturing sector, where they expect the greatest synergies.

Immediately after signing the agreement, key technical staff from both sides held a joint workshop at Naver's second headquarters, 1784, and began mapping out a commercialization roadmap for manufacturing AI services. The companies plan to sustain R&D collaboration and technology exchange between their research teams, jointly identifying AI challenges on the factory floor and creating a virtuous cycle of real-world validation and refinement.

In addition, the two companies plan to adapt use cases that Mistral AI has developed through collaboration with European manufacturers — including real-time quality defect detection and parts-selection optimization — to the Korean manufacturing environment, and to jointly pursue sovereign AI project opportunities targeting global manufacturers on that basis.

Domestic business will also get underway. Mistral AI's latest models and full-stack products will be supplied through the Naver Cloud platform, and Mistral AI field-dedicated engineers will be dispatched directly to customer sites in South Korea to handle technical support and issue resolution.

The first priority will be adapting Mistral AI's proven manufacturing AI use cases from European factory floors — including real-time quality defect detection and parts-selection optimization — to the Korean manufacturing environment. The companies plan to support domestic manufacturers in deploying world-class manufacturing AI technology in a secure environment where data is not exposed externally.

"This partnership combines Mistral AI's manufacturing-specialized technology, proven in global markets, with Naver Cloud's stable infrastructure — it is a substantive business collaboration," Naver Cloud CEO Kim Yu-won said. "We will build successful references domestically and, on that basis, continue to identify joint business opportunities in the global sovereign AI market."

Jeff Soon, Mistral AI's APAC president, said Naver Cloud is "the ideal partner to bring manufacturing AI business to life together," adding that the company would "combine the know-how Mistral AI has accumulated on European factory floors with Naver Cloud's solid infrastructure to provide meaningful support for the AI transformation of manufacturers in Korea and around the world."
