HanmiGlobal marks 30th anniversary with global volunteer campaign

HanmiGlobal marked its 30th anniversary by launching a global corporate social responsibility campaign involving employees at its overseas offices and project sites.

The company announced Wednesday that it held the campaign, called "Global Volunteer Day," in partnership with Ttatteuthan Donghaeng, a social welfare foundation.

The initiative was organized to celebrate HanmiGlobal's 30th founding anniversary, put its commitment to shared-value management into practice and promote a culture of global social contribution.

Employees at HanmiGlobal's overseas offices and construction sites in the United States, Japan, China and Vietnam all took part. Each location independently planned and carried out activities tailored to the needs and characteristics of its local community.

At a construction site in Indiana, employees teamed up with international nonprofit Habitat for Humanity to renovate housing for low-income residents, hauling materials and providing hands-on labor to improve living conditions.

Staff at the Japan office visited a local senior housing facility, running a cultural exchange program and spending time with elderly residents.

Employees in China repainted deteriorating corridor walls at a welfare facility and held an exchange program for facility users.

In Vietnam, two separate teams took part in the campaign. A joint team made up of local office and site employees visited a rehabilitation center for people with disabilities, donating needed supplies and joining disabled children in futsal and other sports. Separately, employees at the new Jinro Soju factory site visited an SOS Children's Village, delivering daily necessities and school supplies and carrying out facility maintenance work.

HanmiGlobal has been expanding its global capabilities in the nuclear power plant sector. In January, it signed a strategic partnership with Korea Power Engineering and British project and cost management firm Turner & Townsend to pursue global nuclear power business opportunities. In May, it signed a separate agreement with AtkinsRealis — the world's top-ranked firm in global construction management and project management — to jointly pursue industrial plant and nuclear power projects in the United States.

"It is deeply meaningful that our overseas office and site employees all carried out social contribution activities simultaneously, with one heart, to mark our 30th anniversary," a HanmiGlobal official said. "We will continue to expand a wide range of social contribution activities in partnership with Ttatteuthan Donghaeng, reflecting the unique characteristics of each overseas site and the needs of local communities."
