Actor Lee Jeong-hyeon, known for convincing Japanese villain roles, to wed in December

Actor Lee Jeong-hyeon, 35, known for his convincing portrayals of Japanese villains, is getting married.

According to entertainment industry sources, Lee will hold a wedding ceremony in Seoul in December.

His partner is not a public figure, and the two have been dating for more than a year.

Lee also signed an exclusive contract with talent agency IPLE ENT on Wednesday, marking a fresh start in his career.

Lee made a strong impression in the 2018 tvN drama series "Mr. Sunshine," delivering a fully realized performance as a Japanese soldier. He had previously drawn similar attention for his Japanese villain roles in the KBS drama series "Imjin War 1592" and the film "Race to Freedom: Um Bok Dong," with his portrayals so convincing that some viewers questioned whether he was actually Japanese. The misconception stemmed from his natural Japanese-language delivery — honed during a period of study in Japan — and his nuanced character work.

He has since built a solid filmography across a range of projects, including the drama series "Sweet Home," "Snowdrop," "7 Souls" and "Reverse," as well as the film "Shark: The Beginning."

Lee is currently filming the drama series "Shinbyeong 4" and is set to meet audiences later this year in the film "Shinbyeong: The Movie."
