Hanwha Investment announced Thursday it will run an account-opening event for its brokerage-type individual savings account, known as an ISA, through Aug. 31.
The event targets new customers opening a non-branch brokerage ISA as well as existing customers with dormant accounts. Those who open a new brokerage ISA and register for the event will receive a 5,000-won support payment. Customers who hold accounts at physical branches, corporations and major individual shareholders are excluded. Applications can be submitted through the Hanwha Investment mobile trading app.
Customers who deposit funds into the account and trade at least 1 million won ($655) in products — including domestic shares, bonds and exchange-traded funds — will also receive rewards ranging from a minimum of 10,000 won to a maximum of 1 million won, depending on their net deposit amount.
Customers who transfer a brokerage ISA held at another firm to Hanwha Investment will receive an added benefit: the transferred amount will be counted at twice its value toward the net deposit calculation.
A brokerage ISA allows investors to manage a range of financial products within a single account while enjoying tax-exempt and preferential separate-taxation benefits. The account has established itself as an essential personal finance tool among investors who prioritize returns and tax efficiency.
Hanwha Investment ran a similar net-deposit reward event for brokerage ISA accounts in May. The latest promotion reflects the firm's strategy to move quickly to capture customers as investor interest in brokerage ISAs has surged recently.
"A brokerage ISA is an essential account for tax savings and long-term asset building," said Lim Ju-hyeok, executive director and head of the asset management division at Hanwha Investment. "We hope this event helps investors start their asset management journey with even greater benefits."
