The Democratic Party of Korea has filled all 13 district committee chair positions in North Gyeongsang Province.
According to the party's North Gyeongsang provincial chapter Thursday, nine posts were decided by single-candidate selection at the 33rd party affairs committee meeting held recently: Oh Jung-gi for Pohang Buk-gu, Park Hee-jeong for Pohang Nam and Ulleung, Hwang Tae-seong for Gimcheon, Yun Dong-chun for Andong-Yecheon, Park Gyu-hwan for Yeongju-Yeongyang-Bonghwa, Lee Yun-hee for Sangju-Mungyeong, Kim Gi-hyeon for Gyeongsan, Lim Mi-ae — a sitting National Assembly member — for Uiseong-Cheongsong-Yeongdeok-Uljin, and Jeong Seok-won for Goryeong-Seongju-Chilgok.
Two additional districts — Yeongcheon-Cheongdo and Gyeongju — were placed under acting leadership.
The remaining two posts, for the Gumi Gap and Gumi Eul district committees, were filled through primary elections held Tuesday and Wednesday. Former party secretary-general Lee Yeong-gyu and former provincial assembly member Kim Deuk-hwan finished first in their respective races and await ratification by the central party.
Meanwhile, the North Gyeongsang provincial chapter plans to hold a reorganization convention at the Grand Ballroom of Daegu Interbulgo Exco on Aug. 9 to elect the next provincial chapter chair. On Aug. 17, a national party convention will select new central party leadership.
