KGM launches flood vehicle inspection campaign with 40% repair discount

KG Mobility (KGM) announced Friday it is launching a special flood vehicle inspection campaign to help customers whose vehicles have been damaged by natural disasters, including heavy summer rains and typhoons.

Running from July through late October, the campaign focuses on areas hit by heavy rainfall and offers free inspections for flood-damaged vehicles, free replacement of consumable parts, and engine-start assistance for vehicles with minor flood damage.

During the campaign, KGM will form dedicated service teams for flood-affected areas, establish an emergency contact system, and coordinate with local government offices to identify areas at risk of flooding so customers receive prompt and accurate guidance.

When an affected area is officially declared a disaster zone, KGM plans to organize joint service teams with nearby service networks as well as separate mobile teams for emergency dispatch and free inspections. The company will also identify and pre-position urgently needed consumable parts — such as fuses and valves — in those areas to minimize customer losses through immediate service support.

When a vehicle arrives at one of KGM's roughly 330 service locations nationwide, staff will first assess the damage and determine whether it was caused by flooding before proceeding with repairs. Flood-damaged vehicles will receive a special 40 percent discount on total repair costs, applicable to vehicles without comprehensive insurance. Free inspections will also be provided if the area is declared a disaster zone.

A KGM official said attempting to start a flood-submerged vehicle can cause serious damage to major components including the engine, transmission and electrical systems. "You must cut the power and seek professional help or have the vehicle towed out of the flooded area to be serviced at an authorized service center," the official said.

Meanwhile, KGM has also been running a "Cool Summer Refresh" vehicle inspection service at 328 service locations nationwide — including its large service centers in Gunpo and Daejeon — covering all models except heavy commercial vehicles, as part of its broader effort to help customers drive safely during the summer heat.
