Jang Dong-hyeok says Lee Jae Myung should apologize over detention of police investigator in Gwangju murder case

People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyeok said President Lee Jae Myung should apologize after the lead investigator accused of destroying key evidence in the murder of a high school girl in Gwangju was taken into custody.

In a Facebook post Friday, Jang said, "If the Democratic Party were still the opposition, they would be demanding the president take responsibility," and asked, "No matter how deeply double standards run, shouldn't the president apologize and the minister of interior and safety resign?"

Jang went on to say that Lee, who "used to meddle in even the most trivial matters, is now playing dumb because things have turned against him," while the minister of interior and safety "is holding out as if it were someone else's problem."

He also warned that the Democratic Party "is waging a fierce internal war over stripping supplementary investigative powers," adding, "Signs of the regime's collapse are appearing everywhere."
