Yuhan is launching Wonderscene (pictured), a new probiotic supplement recognized for its body fat-reducing function.
The product's main ingredient is an individually recognized probiotic strain (L. plantarum ATG-K2) approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for body fat reduction. Human clinical trials confirmed increases in basal metabolic rate and lean body mass after just six weeks of intake, the company said. After 12 weeks, body fat mass and body fat percentage decreased significantly, it added.
Lean body mass refers to the total weight of body components other than fat — including muscle, bone and water. It tends to decline during weight loss and serves as one indicator of healthy weight management. Yuhan said Wonderscene reduces body fat through healthy changes in body composition while preserving lean body mass, which is easily lost during weight loss.
The supplement is designed for convenience: each daily dose is a single small capsule that is easy to swallow, and it can be stored at room temperature for use anywhere. The product has received patents in South Korea, the United States and China, the company said.
"Recent dieting trends have shifted beyond simple weight loss toward 'maintenance' — sustaining a healthy state after losing weight," Yuhan said. "In line with that, we have introduced a probiotic-based body fat management product that can be easily incorporated into daily life without resorting to extreme dietary restrictions."
