Taebaek Mayor Lee Sang-ho, who drew attention at a Gangwon Province local elections winners' rally by pledging harmony with Gangwon Governor Woo Sang-ho despite their differing party affiliations, said Friday he would work with the Taebaek City Council through open communication and cooperative governance to build a more vibrant city.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 10th Taebaek City Council, Lee said the city is at a critical juncture as national projects worth around 1 trillion won ($665 million) move into full swing. "We will pool our wisdom as partners with the 10th Taebaek City Council, which represents our citizens, to resolve the key issues at hand," he said.
A city official said the administration would focus its efforts on close communication with the council, mutual respect as partners in city governance, and building a new Taebaek where residents are happy and the city thrives.
