Mapo-gu District Mayor Yu Dong-gyun visited the community centers of Gongdeok-dong and Sungsan 1-dong on Friday to hold the first "Dialogue with Residents" sessions of his ninth-term administration, sharing local issues and exchanging views with constituents.
The sessions were designed to review neighborhood concerns and give residents a broad platform to voice their opinions.
The entire event was livestreamed on Mapo-gu's official YouTube channel, "Mapo Broadcasting," allowing residents who could not attend in person to follow along and submit their views in real time.
After listening to ward-level work reports and presentations on "Our Neighborhood as Residents Envision It," Yu said he would do his utmost to incorporate feedback into district policy. "Please speak candidly about everything — from everyday inconveniences to ideas for the area's development — and I will reflect as much of it as possible in how we run the district," he said.
He added that communication with residents was the single most important element of running local government, and pledged to keep listening to voices from the community.
After the sessions concluded, Yu said Friday's conversations had again confirmed the changes and expectations residents hold for their neighborhoods. "I will work to realize, one by one, the changes the people of Mapo are hoping for," he said.
He also said every opinion shared Friday would be reviewed carefully. "For proposals that are feasible, we will move quickly; for matters that require further study, I will keep residents fully informed of the process and the outcome," he said.
Starting with Gongdeok-dong and Sungsan 1-dong, Yu plans to visit all 16 dongs in the district in turn through July 20, meeting residents in each neighborhood to share local issues and gather a wide range of opinions.
