Mapo-gu District Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun visited the Sangam-dong Tong Tong Tong Water Festival at Guryong Neighborhood Park in Sangam-dong on Saturday morning.
Now in its sixth year, the festival is organized by the Sangam-dong Festival Promotion Committee and brings together residents for water play, community bonding and summer fun.
The event featured four zones: a water playground with a pool and waterslides, a games-and-performance area, a shaded picnic zone and a village market — giving families a full day of activities, food and entertainment.
A newly installed heat-relief misting system at Guryong Neighborhood Park also ran throughout the day, letting visitors cool off in a fine spray of water as they enjoyed the midsummer festivities.
"The true strength of a community does not lie in grand things — it lies close to us," District Mayor Yoo said. "Moments like today, when children run and play freely and neighbors warmly share their affection for one another, are what make Mapo a warmer place."
He added, "I will always stand by the residents of Sangam-dong, and whenever difficulties arise, we will pool our strength and see them through together."
Yoo also joined a water-spraying event with the children before touring the festival grounds and meeting with residents.
