Do Kyung-wan speaks out for first time since controversy over Jang Yoon-jung's mother

Broadcaster and former announcer Do Kyung-wan has spoken publicly for the first time since controversy erupted over his wife, singer Jang Yoon-jung, and her mother.

A video titled "And Family" was posted Saturday on the YouTube channel "Dojang TV."

In the video, Do and Jang are shown traveling to Austria with their son Yeon-u and daughter Ha-yeong. The family spent time exploring Salzburg and its surroundings.

"We went on a family trip — my cousin's family lives in Poland, so we made a stop along the way," Do said. "I tried to keep the talking to a minimum and just let you feel the scenery I was busy taking in."

Near the end of the video, he reflected on the trip. "Our family really loves to travel. Every trip stays with us and feels precious," he said. "Travel leaves behind something like a nickname. This trip, I think, will be remembered as a 'well' — for a family that was deeply, deeply thirsty."

Do also opened up about the emotional weight of recent months. "Thanks to the love you give us, our family lives in abundant happiness and laughter. But sometimes, for reasons we can't quite name, moments come when a shadow falls over the whole house," he said. "I'm sure it's not just our family — everyone living in Korea today probably feels something similar."

He added: "I will do my best to smile and return good energy to you. If we look a little worn out from a distance, please give us a small word of encouragement. As a father who still has much to learn, I'm counting on it."

Meanwhile, Jang's mother was recently found to have committed fraud worth hundreds of millions of won by impersonating Jang.

In response, Jang's representatives drew a line, saying she had not been in direct contact with her mother for nearly decades and had cut off the relationship entirely long ago.
