The transition committee for the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province governorship concluded its 30-day activities after establishing strategies for fostering key industries and globalizing the tourism sector.
As the committee wrapped up its work, it presented Gov. Woo Sang-ho with five strategic priorities: clean-resource-based innovation and growth, development of a livable city, cultivation of Gangwon-style strategic industries, promotion of global stay-and-tourism, and leadership in the peace economy.
A day before concluding its activities, the committee met with Gov. Woo on Thursday to propose building a cooperation framework between companies and universities to supply skilled workers for large corporations — including AI data center operators — attracted to the province; establishing advisory committees for core provincial policy goals such as a special peace committee for Gangwon; strengthening youth farmer development policies; and providing swift support for a bluefin tuna cold-chain system.
Committee chairman Kim Heon-young thanked the members and officials who took part in the 30-day activities. "I hope the final report, drawn from the voices of Gangwon residents, will serve as a compass for the ninth elected-term provincial administration and lead to changes that residents can feel firsthand, as well as a new leap forward for Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province," he said.
