President Lee Jae Myung departed for home Saturday afternoon local time, wrapping up a five-day overseas trip.
Air Force One, carrying Lee and first lady Kim Hye-kyung, took off from Ulaanbaatar's Chinggis Khaan International Airport bound for Seoul Airport in Seongnam.
South Korean Ambassador to Mongolia Choi Jin-won and, on the Mongolian side, Foreign Minister Battsetseg, Ambassador to South Korea Sukhbaatar and Asia Affairs Director General Gansukh of the Foreign Ministry were on hand to see the presidential couple off.
Lee wore a dark navy suit with a white shirt and navy tie; Kim wore a gray jacket, black top and black skirt. The two exchanged final greetings and handshakes with those gathered to bid them farewell.
Throughout the trip, Lee again focused on what his administration calls "economic security pragmatic diplomacy."
At NATO, he laid the groundwork for South Korean defense exports to expand into global markets. In Mongolia, he secured a framework agreement on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement and broader cooperation on critical mineral supply chains, widening the scope of collaboration to span both security and economic interests.
