Hyundai Motor to provide 50 Santa Fe SUVs for ASEAN Summit security fleet

Hyundai Motor will supply security vehicles for delegations attending the 49th ASEAN Summit, to be held in the Philippines in November, to help ensure the event runs smoothly.

The automaker said Sunday it signed a memorandum of agreement with the Philippine ASEAN National Organizing Committee on vehicle support for the 2026 ASEAN Summit at the Philippine International Convention Center on Friday.

The signing was attended by senior Philippine government officials, including Maria Helen Delavega, director general of the ASEAN NOC and undersecretary for policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with Hyundai Motor executives Kim Dong-jo, executive vice president of the GPO division, and Son Ji-ho, head of Hyundai Motor Philippines. Lee Sang-hwa, South Korea's ambassador to the Philippines, also attended on behalf of the South Korean Embassy.

Under the agreement, Hyundai Motor plans to provide a total of 50 Santa Fe midsize SUVs through its local Philippine subsidiary.

The 49th ASEAN Summit is scheduled to take place in Manila from Nov. 10 to 12, bringing together heads of state and delegations from major Southeast Asian nations to discuss cooperation across areas including economics, diplomacy and trade.

Hyundai Motor said it plans to use its presence at high-profile diplomatic events — attended by heads of state, ministers and corporate CEOs — to showcase the quality and competitiveness of its vehicles. The company has consistently provided official and operational vehicles for major international events, including the 2025 APEC Summit in Gyeongju, the 2025 G20 Summit in Johannesburg and the 2024 Korea-Africa Summit.

"We are pleased to contribute to a summit that is shaping the future of the ASEAN community," a Hyundai Motor official said. "We will do our best to help make the 2026 ASEAN Summit a success."

Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor also served as an official sponsor of the 2nd Sumi Jo International Vocal Competition, held from July 6 to 11 (local time) at Château de la Ferté-Imbault, a historic castle in the Loire region of central France, as part of its broader efforts to support the arts and promote global cultural exchange.
