Strong winds disrupted more than 100 flights at Jeju International Airport on Sunday.
As of 1 p.m. Sunday, 105 flights had been canceled — 103 domestic (48 departures, 55 arrivals) and 2 international (1 departure, 1 arrival) — with further delays rolling out in sequence, according to the airport. Three additional international flights were diverted.
The airport was placed under simultaneous wind-shear and strong-wind warnings.
The Aviation Meteorological Office forecast average wind speeds of 9 to 13 meters per second at Jeju airport, with maximum gusts of 15 to 23 meters per second.
Jeju airport activated its "Caution" level support protocol for stranded passengers and began contingency preparations. The "Caution" level is triggered when the number of passengers affected by canceled departures from Jeju reaches 3,000 or more.
"Flight operations continue to be disrupted by strong winds," an airport official said, urging travelers to check flight status information before heading to the airport.
