A woman in her 40s who rammed a police patrol car with her young daughter inside — telling officers she was angry after a fight with her husband — has been placed under emergency psychiatric hospitalization following her arrest.
The Icheon Police Station in Gyeonggi Province arrested the woman, identified only as A, on charges of obstruction of official duties and ordered her emergency hospitalization, the station said Sunday.
A is accused of driving through Bubal-eup in Icheon with her 8-year-old daughter, identified as B, around 1:40 p.m. Sunday, ignoring police orders to stop and ramming a patrol car.
Earlier that day, A had driven off with B to visit an acquaintance after a verbal altercation with her husband. Around 12:10 p.m., the husband called police, saying he was worried about his wife and child after she left with the girl.
Officers who responded located A and ordered her to pull over. When she refused, they used patrol cars to block her vehicle from the front and rear.
Trapped with no way forward or back, A repeatedly rammed the patrol cars by alternating between drive and reverse, according to police.
After a standoff lasting about an hour, A still refused to get out of the vehicle, and officers ultimately smashed her window and took her into custody.
