'Agent Kim Reactivated' breaks 22% ratings mark, becomes No. 2 SBS Friday-Saturday drama ever

"Agent Kim Reactivated," the action drama series starring So Ji-sub, has set another series-high viewership rating, surpassing the 22 percent mark.

According to Nielsen Korea, Episode 6 of the SBS Friday-Saturday drama series, which aired Saturday, drew a nationwide viewership rating of 22.3 percent.

The figure surpasses previous SBS blockbusters including "Fiery Priest" (22 percent) and "Taxi Driver 2" (21.8 percent), making "Agent Kim Reactivated" the second-highest-rated SBS Friday-Saturday drama series of all time. The only record left to beat is the all-time No. 1, "Penthouse 2," which peaked at 29.2 percent.

The series launched with a 9.5 percent rating in its first episode, crossed the 20 percent threshold in just four episodes with a 21.6 percent rating, and climbed further to 22.3 percent in Episode 6, setting a new series high with each installment.

Episode 6 depicted Agent Kim (played by So Ji-sub) launching a life-or-death rescue mission alongside Seong Han-su (Choi Dae-hoon) and Park Jin-cheol (Yoon Gyeong-ho) to save his daughter Kim Min-ji (Seo Su-min), who has been taken hostage by the Special Operations Bureau.

After Seong Han-su infiltrates the bureau, frees Min-ji and holds off a tactical team — only to find himself cornered — Park Jin-cheol arrives to turn the tide.

Just as the group faces encirclement and considers surrendering, Agent Kim appears with Deputy National Security Minister Im Cheol-hyeong as his hostage and reunites with his daughter Min-ji, bringing the episode's tension to a peak.

"Agent Kim Reactivated," which premiered June 26, follows a former special agent living an ordinary life who reveals his true identity and fights with everything he has to track down his missing daughter, in a revenge action drama series.

On Netflix, the series reached No. 3 on the global non-English TV chart within three days of its release, then climbed to No. 1 in its second week, overtaking "Cham Gyoyuk," which had held the top spot for four consecutive weeks.
