Gyeonggi Province activated its first heat-wave emergency response headquarters of this year at the Level 1 alert stage Sunday, after tropical night advisories took effect across 25 cities and counties in the province, including Hwaseong.
With heat wave alerts already in force province-wide, the expansion of tropical night advisories prompted authorities to raise the heat crisis warning to the Serious level — the highest of four tiers — and shift from a joint task force structure to a full disaster and safety response headquarters system starting at 6 p.m. Sunday.
The four-tier heat crisis warning system runs from Level 1 Attention through Level 2 Caution and Level 3 Alert to Level 4 Serious. This is the first time this year Gyeonggi Province has reached the Serious level.
