Seongnam Arts Center opens enrollment for children's summer classes, second-semester courses

Seongnam Arts Center Academy is accepting applications for its second-semester regular courses and a summer one-day class series for children.

The second-semester regular courses run from Aug. 4 to Dec. 12 and are divided into three tracks: arts practice, arts appreciation and humanities, and children's programs. The arts practice track offers 34 courses covering instrumental music, vocal performance, Korean dance, ballet and more, organized by skill level and personal interest. For working adults who cannot attend on weekdays, the academy has added a new Sunday morning "Basic Drawing" course.

The arts appreciation and humanities track features seven courses led by specialists and critics exploring a wide range of disciplines, including classical music and art history. Highlights include "Opera Salon," offering in-depth commentary on world-renowned opera productions; "Introduction to Art Collecting," which combines lessons on the basics of art collecting with gallery visits; and "Art and Music: Two Visions That Shaped an Era," presenting celebrated paintings and compositions from the Renaissance to the present through audiovisual pairings. The courses open sequentially by day of the week beginning Sept. 1, a Tuesday. The first of 13 sessions in each course will be held as a free open lecture.

The children's academy, which opens Aug. 25, is designed to let young learners dream through art and grow through imagination. The lineup of 13 courses includes "Waggle Waggle Art Lab," which nurtures children's senses and creativity through artistic experiences and encourages them to express their inner stories through art activities, and "The Artist's Secret Laboratory," in which students explore the works of Korean and international artists while experimenting with a variety of artistic media.
