The Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association and eco-friendly energy company E1 Co. (chairman Koo Ja-yong) held a charity fund presentation ceremony Monday at the Good Neighbors headquarters in Yeouido-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, marking the conclusion of the 14th E1 Charity Open.
The tournament, held in May, raised about 120 million won in charitable funds — 80 million won ($53,100) from E1 and about 40 million won from KLPGA players. Of that amount, 50 million won was presented to Good Neighbors, a global NGO specializing in children's rights, and will be used to support programs for children from vulnerable households.
Attending the ceremony were KLPGA Senior Vice President Kim Soon-hee, E1 Head of External Affairs Jeon Jin-man, Good Neighbors ESG Social Contribution Director Eo Jeong-wook, and Charawee Boonjan (27, Thailand), winner of the 14th E1 Charity Open.
"I was already so grateful just to win the 14th E1 Charity Open, and I'm happy to be able to share that love with others," Charawee said. "I hope this donation becomes a small ray of hope for children in need."
The KLPGA plans to use the remaining funds through the Korean Red Cross to support families in crisis and children facing food insecurity, with players also set to take part in volunteer activities at year's end. E1 will run a children's welfare project with Naver Happy Bean and a disability support project with the Korea Association of Welfare Facilities for the Disabled.
