Hwaseong to hold confined-space safety training sessions

Hwaseong City will hold a confined-space workplace safety training program on two occasions — Monday and July 20 — aimed at preventing serious industrial accidents.

The sessions target project managers, company supervisors and workers involved in confined-space operations. Kim Hyo-gyu, a department head at the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency's Gyeonggi regional headquarters, will lead the practical training, covering recent asphyxiation accident cases, government policy directions, confined-space safety standards and measures for implementing preventive practices.

The training focuses on equipping both workers and managers with the safety management skills needed for immediate on-site application, given that most asphyxiation accidents in confined spaces can be prevented by strictly following basic safety rules and thoroughly understanding the hazards involved.
