Kosdaq Association donates W371m to support vulnerable children

The Korea Kosdaq Association announced Monday it has donated a total of 371 million won ($246,000) through its Misosarang fund to support children who cannot afford medical treatment and others in need.

The funds will be distributed to 16 hospitals and social welfare organizations across the country, including Seoul National University Children's Hospital, Yonsei University Health System, the Hallym Burn Foundation, Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, Seoul Metropolitan Children's Hospital and the Korea Childhood Leukemia Foundation. The money is earmarked for a range of programs benefiting vulnerable children, including medical expense assistance and welfare improvement.

The Misosarang fund is the association's flagship corporate social responsibility initiative, run annually in partnership with Kosdaq-listed companies. It was established to provide practical support to children burdened by medical costs and to promote corporate social responsibility. Since 2006, the association has donated a cumulative total of 3.66 billion won to improve the treatment and welfare of children who lack access to adequate medical care.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Kosdaq market. The association said it is pursuing a range of projects to advance the capital market and build a sustainable growth foundation for listed companies, while consistently maintaining its social contribution activities.

"We hope the warm generosity of Kosdaq-listed companies brings hope to children in need," association Chairman Lee Dong-hoon said. "The Korea Kosdaq Association will continue to carry out diverse social contribution activities to fulfill corporate social responsibility and spread a culture of sharing."
