Iran military warns US it will not tolerate interference in Strait of Hormuz

Iranian military authorities declared they will never allow the United States to control the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian state media including the IRNA news agency reported Monday (local time).

According to Yonhap, a spokesperson for the Imam Khomeini CENTCOM, which operates under the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), said in a statement: "Following repeated warnings in the past, we once again emphasize that we will absolutely not allow the United States to interfere in the management of the Strait of Hormuz."

The spokesperson also criticized Washington's conduct, saying the "repeated military adventurism and disruptive actions by the United States in its attempts to interfere with the management of the Strait of Hormuz are placing regional security, international trade, and the passage of oil tankers and merchant vessels in serious danger."

The Khomeini spokesperson then raised his voice against neighboring countries cooperating with the US, warning that "unfortunately, some regional states are cooperating with this, further heightening the risk of war spreading across the entire region."

The IRGC's own spokesperson also criticized US involvement in the Strait of Hormuz.

Brig. Gen. Hossein Nematzadeh, the IRGC spokesperson, wrote on X that "the United States has seriously endangered the security of global oil and natural gas supply by intervening in the Strait of Hormuz, and must be held accountable for this."

He added that Iran would "continue to exercise control and management over the Strait of Hormuz with great strength and capability," vowing to "make foreign powers and their allies submit to the will of the Iranian people."

Targeting the US directly, he warned that just as Iran had "reduced the delusional goals the American leadership held at the outset of its aggression down to merely reopening the Strait of Hormuz, we will inflict even greater humiliation and defeat on them for their new acts of aggression than we did before."
