Hyundai Motor and Kia won a total of six awards at the 2026 Red Dot Award: Design Concept, including one best-of-the-best honor and five main prizes, the companies announced Tuesday.
Organized by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Germany, the Red Dot Award is one of the world's three most prestigious design competitions, selecting outstanding works each year across three categories: product design, brand and communication design, and design concept.
This year, the MoBeD Urban Hopper & Golf claimed the best-of-the-best prize in the design concept category.
The MoBeD mobile robot platform had already earned main prizes this year in the product design category at the CES Innovation Award (January), the iF Design Award (March) and the Red Dot Award (May).
The MoBeD Urban Hopper & Golf — this year's best-of-the-best winner — was also named a candidate for the "Luminary" designation, which recognizes the finest work in the design concept category.
The MoBeD Urban Hopper & Golf is a mass-production-concept mobility solution built on the MoBeD platform, combining interchangeable top modules to deliver convenience and enjoyment in everyday life.
The Urban Hopper is a scooter model designed to support easy movement through complex urban environments and narrow alleyways, thanks to its exceptional maneuverability. The Golf uses autonomous driving and user-following functions to navigate the varied terrain of a golf course with stability, while also serving as a caddie during a round — offering a differentiated mobility experience.
Five additional works took main prizes: Hyundai Motor's Concept Three and Crater, Genesis's Magma GT and X Scorpio, and Kia's Vision Meta Tourismo.
Concept Three embodies Hyundai Motor's vision to expand the Ioniq lineup to include compact EVs, while Crater is an off-road concept car realizing an evolved design direction for the off-road-specialized trim "XRT."
The Magma GT, which captures Genesis's high-performance vision, features a dynamic design that harmonizes a low front end, wide fenders and a midship engine proportion. The X Scorpio draws inspiration from the powerful stance of a scorpion, symbolically expressing off-road performance and practicality to project a commanding presence.
Kia's Vision Meta Tourismo concept, rooted in the brand's design philosophy "Opposites United," won a main prize in recognition of its strong design competitiveness — blending geometric forms and a refined silhouette to express the direction of Kia's future mobility.
"This achievement is the result of the unique design philosophies and future-oriented inspiration of the Hyundai Motor, Kia and Genesis brands," a Hyundai Motor and Kia official said. "We will continue to strive to provide customers with new value and experiences through differentiated design."
Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor and Kia set an all-time record at the 2026 iF Design Award, organized by the International Forum Design in Germany in March, winning a total of 32 prizes — including a gold award for The Kia PV5 and 31 main prizes spanning the product, concept, branding and communication, interior architecture, user interface and user experience categories.
