AI agent 'Work AI' integrated with enhanced security
Service architecture overhauled, app speed quadrupled

DK TechIn, the IT solution development subsidiary of Kakao, has unveiled KakaoWork 2.0, a collaboration tool equipped with an AI agent. The company plans to transform KakaoWork into a full AI platform, overhauling its engine architecture alongside the new AI features.
DK TechIn said Tuesday it launched KakaoWork 2.0, an enterprise groupware collaboration tool combining advanced AI capabilities with a modern infrastructure architecture.
KakaoWork 2.0 features an AI agent called Work AI, designed around the messenger — the most widely used workplace application — so users can communicate and handle document tasks without disrupting their workflow. The company said it has also built in safeguards to block any risk of sensitive corporate data being leaked externally through AI.
Work AI operates directly within the chat window. Its core in-chat functions include message spell-check and tone correction to refine text before sending, unread message and mention summaries for quickly catching up on accumulated conversations, and conversation history search. Existing features such as real-time multilingual translation and text search within images are also integrated.
Work AI is also accessible through a side panel newly added to the right side of the messenger screen. Key functions there include conversation history search that tracks work context based on exchanges across a user's chats and channels, file-based question-and-answer that retrieves information from uploaded documents, and AI-powered chat room grouping that automatically categorizes chat rooms by type. DK TechIn said users can expand their work within the panel without manually copying and pasting conversation content.
A "knowledge search AI" mode has also been introduced in the panel. Users can ask questions in natural language — such as "How do I apply for annual leave?" — and the AI draws on the company's internal database to provide accurate answers. Administrators need only register relevant documents in the admin menu to automate responses to common inquiries.
DK TechIn also overhauled KakaoWork 2.0's engine architecture to improve service stability. By fully replacing the engine with one built on Electron and Rust, the company reduced GPU usage in idle mode by 96 percent and cut memory consumption by 50 percent, resulting in an app launch speed four times faster than before.
DK TechIn said the engine upgrade has improved development productivity, giving the company the technical capacity to quickly incorporate features and improvements that on-site customers need.
The user interface and experience have also been redesigned. The update introduces markdown formatting support to improve text readability and aid task instructions, along with channel and thread features for in-depth discussions on specific topics, a channel browsing preview, and a notification center that filters and collects only mentions and priority alerts from among multiple notifications.
