Seoul's Gangseo-gu said it successfully completed a medical tourism tour for overseas Koreans and foreign groups over two days, on July 9 and July 13.
Organized to attract more foreign patients, the tour was built around the district's medical tourism slogan: "Stay in Gangseo, Experience Medicine."
The district carefully selected key medical institutions across different treatment specialties to give participants from multiple countries a firsthand sense of the quality and safety of Gangseo's medical services.
The first leg, held July 9, drew eight participants — including overseas Korean advisory members residing in the United Kingdom, Thailand, Norway and Australia who had traveled to Korea for the 22nd Democratic Peace and Unification Advisory Council Eurasia Regional Conference, along with representatives from KOWIN (Korean Women's International Network).
The group toured three clinics within the Gangseo Miracle Medi Special Zone: Abijou Clinic Gangseo (dermatology and aesthetics), Jayeonssaem Clinic (thyroid cancer) and Bumin Prestige Lifecare Center Magok Clinic (comprehensive health checkups), with a particular focus on each facility's specialized medical equipment.
At Abijou Clinic, participants received hands-on aesthetic treatments including Botox injections and aqua peeling, drawing an enthusiastic response.
The second tour, held July 13, invited 11 executives and staff from the Korean Chinese Compatriots Federation, with which the district signed an MOU in May to promote medical tourism.
The group examined the medical facilities at Yonsei Hill Dental Clinic (dental care and implants) — which operates a global care system including a dedicated foreign-patient consultation room and airport pickup service — as well as Seoul Won Hospital (orthopedics, spine and pediatric orthopedics) and Magok Cha Women's Clinic (infertility treatment and reproductive cell banking), going beyond a simple facility tour to enjoy tailored medical experiences.
District Mayor Jin Kyo-hoon said the tour "provided an opportunity to showcase Gangseo-gu's high-level medical infrastructure to the world and raise our international profile." He added that the district would "continue to build a solid overseas network and develop Gangseo into a global medical tourism destination where patients can visit with confidence."
