Seoul's Seocho-gu and the Seocho Cultural Center will run a cultural arts networking program called the "Youth Culture Salon" from September through November to help local young residents connect through shared arts experiences, the district said.
The program targets single men and women between the ages of 25 and 39 who have limited opportunities to meet new people amid busy daily lives. A total of 30 participants — 15 men and 15 women — will be selected, with preference given to Seocho-gu residents and those employed within the district.
Running nine sessions from September through November, the program will include a humanities and philosophy lecture, a nighttime cultural walk along Yangjae Stream, performances and exhibition visits, self-development and relationship leadership talks, and a dance class.
Applicants may register through a Google form or by submitting a completed application — available on the Seocho Cultural Center's website — by email. The deadline is Aug. 14. The participation fee is 30,000 won ($20). Further details are available on the center's website or by phone.
"Culture and the arts have the power to bring people together naturally," said Gu Myeong-suk, director of the Seocho Cultural Center. "I hope young people will share their everyday lives and build warm relationships through these cultural and artistic experiences."
Seocho-gu District Mayor Jeon Seong-su said opportunities for young people to meet diverse individuals and form new connections within their community are of the utmost importance. "We will continue to actively support youth through a range of policies that blend culture, leisure and communication, so that young people can settle stably in the area and find renewed energy in their lives," he said.
